Robots Modeling

V1 & V2 combat robots lore

In the not-too-distant future, a ruling faction split in two after a devastating war. The Resistance retained its original V1 combat robots, while the Asian Empire developed the advanced V2. Now both sides are preparing for an epic battle featuring these titanic machines.

Creative process

The sketches (made with Procreate) were somewhat quick to be able to start modeling as soon as possible. I develop best creatively creating the details in situ in Blender. Problems that I encountered: perspective inconsistencies and joint impossibilities, so, especially in the shoulders of the robots, there are differences compared to the sketches.

My “workflow” in Blender consists of using two well-known plugins in hard modeling, which are BoxCutter and HardOps, creating the figures from booleans. I also like to apply beveling to all clothes to achieve a more realistic aesthetic; the problem with this is that the density of polygons increases considerably. In this first activity, by not moving the model to Unity, I have not worried, but it is very possible that in future iterations I will have to simplify the topology.

Here are two videos of the modeling process as an extra ;D
